Adult Ability Level Guide

Level 0
Intro = Zero Cross Country Ski Experience
Level 1
Beginner = Limited cross-country experience. Wants to learn or refresh the basics.
Level 2
Advanced Beginner = Has learned the basics of kick, glide, and/or skate technique. Can maneuver easy downhills and stop when needed.
Level 3
Intermediate = Can ski 5km without stopping, can do V2 if skate and double-pole kick if classic. Can maneuver down the Big Mtn Nordic Trail S turn.
Level 4
Advanced = Can ski 10km without stopping, might dabble in racing, and keen on assessing body mechanics and technique.
Level 5
Expert = Can ski 20km without stopping. Wants to fine-tune technique, fitness and tactics. Likely races.

Learn to Classic Ski

Details:
These sessions are structured to progressively build fundamental ski skills from the first gathering through the fourth, providing lots of great tips to get you on the right track when out on your own this winter.
1x a week for 4 weeks
Cost: $115
(Minimum 5 skiers needed to run the program.)

Learn to Skate Ski
Ability level 0-1
Details:
Multiple, progressive lessons will give you a chance to become comfortable on your skis, develop correct technique, and be efficient from the start, enhancing your fun!
1x a week for 4 weeks

Advanced Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Levels 2-3
Sunday Skate Clinics
Details:
Three weekend clinics. Improve your skate skiing efficiency by learning to use the correct technique for the terrain you’re skiing on! Learn and improve Diagonal Skate & V1, V2 and V2 alternate; and how to ski down hills and around corners.
These clinics will be suitable for advanced beginner through intermediate skiers. If you are a first-timer or have limited skate skiing experience, take the Learn to Skate Ski – BEGINNER Program (scroll up).
You can sign up for all three clinics or just pick the ones you want the most work on. *Minimum 5 skiers needed to run clinic.

Extend Your Glide Classic Clinics
Ability Level 2-3:
Masters Extend Your Glide Classic Clinic (Advanced Beginners to Intermediate)
How to take your skiing to the next level and work on getting a longer glide through weight transfer, poling and more. (Minimum 5 skiers needed to run clinic.)

Intro to Biathlon Clinics
Glacier Nordic Club offers several ways to experience the sport of biathlon using “laser” biathlon rifles supplied by the U.S. Biathlon Association. Laser rifles look and feel like regular biathlon rifles, but there are no “bullets” or loud “shots” and, therefore, none of the normal safety concerns associated with rifles.
This clinic is for skiers with at least a beginner ski skill or higher. On-snow, 2-hour-long clinics for adults and young adults wanting to learn more about the great sport of biathlon! No previous shooting experience is required.

Biathlon Builder Program
Glacier Nordic Club offers several ways to experience the sport of biathlon using “laser” biathlon rifles supplied by the U.S. Biathlon Association. Laser rifles look and feel like regular biathlon rifles, but there are no “bullets” or loud “shots” and, therefore, none of the normal safety concerns associated with rifles.
For any intermediate/advanced/expert skiers seeking the next step, this is a 5-part series with a focus on biathlon and tactics for being fast and accurate. No previous shooting experience is required.

- Session 2: Sunday, January 18 from 10 am to 12 pm
- Session 3: Sunday, January 25 from 10 am to 12 pm

Technique with Jennie Bender - Clinics (GMA)
Ability Level 2-4
Details:
Learn technique, body mechanics, and how to work with your gear for maximum glide. Great for GNST Coach continuing education.For Intermediate to Expert. Sign up for one clinic, or all 3 ski clinics. The Glacier Mountain Athlete (GMA) promotes cross-training with nordic to improve strength, endurance, agility, balance, sport knowledge, and more.

V1 all day, everyday. Left side, right side, and all hilly terrain. Cornering, accelerating, transitioning, and drills.

Masters Training Group
Post Learn to Skiers, Ability Level 2-4
Details:
Purchase one month at a time or join us for the winter! Looking for consistency and a group to ski with? Coached sessions with technique drills and a workout. Great for those who have learned some basics, and want to progress their technique. Technique & drills for 60 minutes, 30 minute workout. Once a week on Thursdays at 5:15pm. Bring a headlamp! Coach will notify prior what the workout is. Will focus mostly on skate skiing.
1 month to 4 months, 1x a week
Cost:
1 day/week
$336 for winter

$99 per 4 week block
Drop in rate ($25) available if you want to try it out!

All adult programs are designed for adults 18+.
What to Bring and Equipment Needed
A day pass or membership pass is required to ski at Glacier Nordic Center. Rental equipment is available through the Shop on a first come, first served basis and may be limited. Please contact the shop at 406.862.9498 to reserve gear in advance. These costs are not included in the clinic fees.
